Vipers AFL Supercoach Grand Finale

August 28th, 2011Vipers VT League trial date for both the Men’s and Women’s teams for the 2011/12 season will be conducted on Sunday 11th September @12pm to 2pm at the Albert Park playing fields.
The VT League is predominately played on Friday nights with the commencement date expected to be Friday 4th November with the Finals day to be conducted in February 2012. The competition draw will be posted on the website when released. Read the rest of this entry »
Award winners
August 28th, 2011Vipers would like to announce and recognise the clubs Rookie of the Year and the Club Person of the Year for 2010/11.
Gemma Hocart has been recognised for a stellar first season in the VT League in 2010/11 with being awarded the clubs Rookie of the Year 2010/11. Gemma having been involved with Vipers social Mixed team at Albert Park has graduated to the Premier competition in the VTL with the Women’s. Gemma’s first season in the VTL has seen her take valuable skills learnt over the season back to her Uni team in Deakin. Gemma will be much wiser from her first season of VTL and will be looking to perform just as strong in her second season.
Lorie Trenuela has been awarded the Club Person of the Year award after her commitment to the club through organising two teams for the club at Royal Park and Albert Park. Lorie has been a regular volunteer behind the scenes for the past two season and has been instrumental in getting the first Vipers Royal Park team off the ground in 2010/11. Lorie has continued to go the Extra Mile which can be demonstrated by regular emails to her team members regarding game times as well as organising a team to participate in the recent Touch for Christchurch event held recently in aid of the Earthquake victims from Christchurch.

4 consecutive titles Men’s A
August 24th, 2011The Albert Park Men’s A team have claimed there fourth consecutive title on Tuesday night at Albert Park. The team having moved to AP over winter due to ground renovations at the scene of their past three titles at Fawkner Park where to strong to a fast running Tigers team.
The team didn’t even look like they would get through their semi final game having on six available players against a full strenghted Tornado’s outfit, but the team got through on the back of controlling the game and pace to suit their numbers to play the Grand Final reply from last season against Tigers. Vipers farewell World Cup players
June 12th, 2011The coming week will see the departure of players and officials to the 2011 Touch World Cup in Scotland.
Vipers will have plenty of representation at the event with Brooke James to be accompanied by fellow first year Vipers – Danny Bretherton in the Australian Senior Mixed team as well as Mark Bowker in the USA Mixed Open team. Also in the shadows of selection is David “Horse” Merrill a current shadow for the Australian Men’s 40′s and hopeful for a late call up to the team with less then 7 days until the teams depart.
The players are not the only local talent boarding the plane to Edinburgh with Victorian Ref’s Sally Melzer, Cliff Winnett and Leigh Bryant all earning a highly sorted Ref’s appointment to the event after stellar performances at the NTL’s in March.
Current Victorian State Manager Micheal Lovett will also be heading to the northern hemisphere as an Assistant Coach of the current World Women’s Champions in the Aussie Women’s Open team.
Vipers wishes all of the above players and officials all the best at the upcoming World Cup.
