Vipers farewell World Cup players

Sunday, June 12th, 2011

The coming week will see the departure of players and officials to the 2011 Touch World Cup in Scotland.

Vipers will have plenty of representation at the event with Brooke James to be accompanied by fellow first year Vipers – Danny Bretherton in the Australian Senior Mixed team as well as Mark Bowker in the USA Mixed Open team. Also in the shadows of selection is David “Horse” Merrill a current shadow for the Australian Men’s 40′s and hopeful for a late call up to the team with less then 7 days until the teams depart.

The players are not the only local talent boarding the plane to Edinburgh with Victorian Ref’s Sally Melzer, Cliff Winnett and Leigh Bryant all earning a highly sorted Ref’s appointment to the event after stellar performances at the NTL’s in March.

Current Victorian State Manager Micheal Lovett will also be heading to the northern hemisphere as an Assistant Coach of the current World Women’s Champions in the Aussie Women’s Open team.

Vipers wishes all of the above players and officials all the best at the upcoming World Cup.
