Affiliate and team I play with: Elwood Park – Vipers Young Guns, Albert Park – Blackest Cats

Number of years playing touch: 5 Years

Representative honours: Crusaders 20′s & Opens, Australian Team (Vic Trans Tasman), Victorian Men’s Open

How did you get started playing Touch Football: Started out playing touch as a way to keep fit for my AFL football at school, and because I hated all other summer sports like cricket.

Do you play any other sports: AFL, Water-ski

Role Model/Mentor: Glenn Archer, Shane Crawford, My Dad.

Major achievements in Touch Football: Playing at the NTL’s, captaining the Crusaders 20′s Team, making the Australian Trans Tasman Team

Hobbies: All Sports, road trips to the beach, travelling, and hanging out with my mates.

Any superstitions or rituals before games: None

Most memorable Touch achievement: Winning the Trans Tasman Series against NZ in 2006 as the under dogs.

Funniest Moment you have seen at Touch: Ben Langford running naked during a time trial for crusaders men’s open, and Damien Kirk – just a funny guy in general.

Brooke James

City of birth: Albury, NSW

Affiliate and team I play with: Synergy/Vipers, EPTA

Number of years playing touch: 13

Representative honours: Crusaders Womens Open and Mixed; Vic Womens Open and 27’s (can’t remember which years!)

How did you get started playing Touch Football: My PE teacher at high school loved the sport and tried recruiting anyone that could run a bit!

Do you play any other sports: Triathlon. Touch doesn’t leave much time for anything else!

Role Model/Mentor: Mick Lovett – have always admired his passion for the game.

Major achievements in Touch Football: Winning NTL Womens 27’s 2008 with an awesome group of VIC girls and then winning Player of the Series and VIC MVP. Such a memorable moment which I’ll never forget.

Hobbies: Watching movies, learning to surf…

Any superstitions or rituals before games: None really.. just like to have a few minutes to myself before the game starts to get focused.

Most memorable Touch achievement: As above

Funniest Moment you have seen at Touch: I’m sure there are plenty but one that springs to mind is when a pregnant Shazz Lai did a cameo run onto the field for us in the EPTA Sunday GF, tripped over her own feet and fell over!
