Victoria welcomes new State Manager

Victoria Touch this week welcomed a new State Manager with the appointment of Michael ”Mick” Lovett to the role of East Regional Manager.

As the East Regional Manager, Michael will be responsible for managing the State offices in ACT, Victoria and Tasmania. Within this role, he will look to pool the human resources within these States, allowing him to achieve a greater number of our strategic goals. The key tasks of the East Regional Manager will be to manage staff within each of the States, oversee the strategic planning of each of those States, consolidate and increase the level of marketing and exposure of the sport as well as manage events and technical development within each of the states.

Youth Trans Tasman 2009

Mick and Vipers Club President Youngy with the Youth Trans Tasman trophy won in 2009 with Aus Men’s 20′s

Mick has been a driving force behind touch in Victoria for many years on all levels as a player, coach, selector, technical director and mentor to some of the State’s and Vipers coaches to name but a few of the roles Mick has volunteered to over the years. Mick has won NTL titles with the Gold Coast Sharks Men’s Open 3 times and the Crusaders Women’s 30′s team, as well as his involvement in the QLD Men’s Open teams.

Mick’s greatest achievement came in January 2009 when he won the Youth Trans Tasman series with the Australian Men’s 20′s team in New Zealand something no other Men’s 20′s team has been able to do. This success has lead to him being appointed as an Assistant Coach to the Australian Women’s Open team who also recently completed a clean sweep in a 3 game Trans Tasman series against NZ in Wollongong.

Vipers looks forward to working with Mick and the Victorian Touch office on continuing to develop and promote the sport to the wider community.
