Vipers continue domination

Vipers first steps onto the Netball court have been nothing but successful with both the Albert Park and oaleigh teams yet to taste defeat in a combined 5 games played.

The team of  Suzy, Brooke, Mel, Jen, MC, Crano & Youngy  plus help from fill in players have helped the team win all four matches played to date, the team have beaten all on their way, including last years premiers 17 -12 in what many would describe as a early preview of the Grand final which is still 18 weeks away. The season is still far from over but the team have gelled into a DOMINATING unit since there pre seaosn training camp and look destined for greatness and a winners cheque in June

The second Vipers Netball team which will play at Oakleigh on Sunday nights have also commenced their campaign  and the team of Mick & Tanya Lovett, Mon and Burkey, Jen, Andrew Burke, Smash and Youngy blew away their opponents in the 3rd quarter on Sunday night to DOMINATE the match and eventually win 21 -11. The team having played together for the first time tried a few combinations before they settle on the make up of the team before the first round after easter, one thing is for sure that Youngy is dominating the space down back and keeping opposition shooters at bay. This team will also look to improve on their pre season training camps held during the off season and claim the winners cheque.

FACT

Netball is the most popular women’s sport in Australia with an estimated one million players nation wide. Although traditionally identified as a sport for women, there is no reason why it cannot be played with mixed teams, and increasingly more boys and men are becoming involved.

Tim Blackwood a current Australian Men’s Netball member and also current Vipers Mixed touch player with the Fawkner Mixed A Premiers will assist Vipers in establishing teams in the coming months throughout Melbourne.
