Vipers teams will once again feature in the summer finals series at all the major competitions in Melbourne in the coming weeks.
Vipers fielded six teams at the three major competitions during the 09/10 season and with three of those teams still in the finals hunt and one already into a grand final it looks like Vipers will have yet another successful season.
Bitemark Vipers from the Thursday night Albert Park comp will feature in the A grade final on Thursday night at 7.20pm against Kiwis which should prove to be a real fast and furious GF. Gilbo, Jimmy and Rick coupled with Flick and the rest of the team will prove to be hard to beat in back to back GF’s. Tip Vipers by 3
Vipers will also field teams in the Fawkner Park competition finals this week with the star studded Tuesday night Men’s team which is dominated by VT and NTL players featuring in week 2 of the finals due to a couple of forfeits throughout the year making them finish 3rd and miss the opportunity for the double chance. The boys will play the loser of Monash and TC Titans for a place in the GF in 2 weeks time.
The Vipers Thursday night mixed team will also be in action this week with their do or die semi against Scent of Beer @ 6.45pm. The teams has been rocked by injury in the last few weeks with last years MVP Tim Blackwood unable to run due to a hip injury and with players away due to work commitments the team have struggled in recent weeks. Although this situation is nothing new to this team who last year came from 4th position to take the title, so look for a big showing this week as they look to defend last year’s title. The Sunday Elwood competition has been a elusive one for the Vipers club and with the lone team being the Women’s A team in 09/10 it looks like it will rest with them to bring the first EPTA title to the club. Vipers having finished 1st would need to overcome the highly rated Synergy team the last two season’s champions in the first week of the finals.
The roving report can report that this semi has been won by Synergy and will leaves Vipers with next week’s game against Monash to secure a rematch and possibly the club’s last chance of a EPTA title.
